Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Today, we are going to work with theme within 'The Gold Cadillac'. Let's take out our minilesson section of our notebook and writing the following statement.
Readers prove a specific theme by providing textual evidence.
Underneath your lesson, let's add a few notes:
- Theme is a life lesson or a moral of a story.
- Example: Life is too short to always be angry.
- Theme topics are single words that help us develop an overall theme statement.
- Example: love, family, happiness
- To prove these themes, we would have to use a quote from our story.
- Remember when using a quote we need to use page numbers and quotation marks.
Next, we are going to look at a theme from 'The Gold Cadillac'. Today, I will give you the theme and then you will be trying to prove with evidence.
Write the following theme underneath your notes:
Family is more important than material possessions.
