Now let's take a couple notes about Author's Purpose:
Take 10 minutes and read a news article or watch a news story. What was the purpose of the news story? (Write it in your notebook)
Next, we are going to practice using our article, 'Too Much Sugar'.

- A purpose is a reason so we are focusing on why an author chose to write the article and include different things like graphics or maps.
- Authors write for 4 reasons:
- Persuade: try to get the reader to believe something
- Inform: try to teach the reader something
- Entertain: try to amuse the reader
- Explain: try to make the reader understand something better
