Tooooday in Social Studies.....
We are going to think about the city-states of the Italian Renaissance. Last week, we looked at where the Renaissance was happening: Italy and what it was: a rebirth of culture. We looked at the different city-states in Italy by analyzing a map and discussing a few popular ones like Florence or Venice.
Today, we are going to use what we know about different city-states and evaluate whether or not they were valuable to society. Take out your notebooks and read the following pages from your textbook. While you are reading, take notes about both arguments.

Now, that you read and took notes about whether or not city-states were the correct form of government, I want you to pick a side and answer this question: Were city-states a good form of government during the Italian Renaissance?
In your notebooks, come up with your reasons about why you chose the side you did.
When you are finished, write your entry for you Primary Source Journal. Remember, a 1/2 page is at least 10 sentences.
