Since we last dealt with the Constitution, we have gone over the Preamble, all 7 Articles, and now we are moving on to the 27 Amendments. These should sound familiar to you since you should be memorizing them for your test.
Let's take out our notebooks and write a few notes:
- Amendments

- 1st 10 Amendments = Bill of Rights
- Passed in 1791
- Constitution did not list the rights that should be protected for all Americans...the Bill of Rights does this!
- States began to petition for a Bill of Rights as they ratified (approved) the Constitution

Now that you have an overview of the Bill of Rights, you learned that many of these were put into place because of the issues colonists had with Great Britain before and during the Revolutionary War.
