Where were you on September 11th, 2001? I was a freshman at Trinity High School in River Forest. I was in my Catholic Christianity class and asked to go to the bathroom. As I walked by a classroom, I saw the towers on fire. About 30 minutes later the principal came over the intercom and told us all what happened. We continued classes as usual, but everything was very somber, very quiet. It is a day I will never forget.
On Friday, September 9th, 2016, Epiphany invited all neighborhood first responders to receive a blessing from Father Dan. 8th grade students made cards to represent the junior high. It was great watching students work together and come up with beautiful cards (pictures and words) to represent their feeling towards our first responders. Even though 8th grade students were not alive during the tragedy in 2001, they were able to connect to the event and understand how important it is to honor and respect our local first responders.
