Even though I do not teach religion, I like to bring in aspects of our faith into what is taught. This year, 8th grade is looking at Pope Francis' Twitter account to see how he communicates with his flock. Every week (or two), I print a tweet by Pope Francis and students are discussing what he is teaching us through social media. Students are able to be interactive with the bulletin board by adding different post-it comments to it. Every Friday, 8th grade is looking at what Pope Francis said and connecting it to what is happening in our world today. It is important for students to look up to our religious figures, along with their favorite celebrities, to better understand what is going on in our faith.
Do you tweet? Who do you follow? What would you say to Pope Francis if you could comment?
